Well now, here's some wonderful news!!
We sent some songs to Sony Music last month and they just called to say they loved the stuff,
and to send them more!!
They didn't say BUGGER OFF they said SEND MORE!!
Yeehaaa!

On a related (songwriting) note. . . more good news!
Vancouver duo, DUX,have been performing
Steve's song Borderline for a while now, and they
do a hauntingly beautiful job of it. Recently, they debuted
Steve's tune Whiskey
and Lucie's song I Lose Myself
in what they call their "Rockin' Country Blues" set!
Yeehaa~ Thank you Mike & Garry!

Our friends Mike Horne and Garry Sullivan (DUX)
run an acoustic open stage at the Vancouver Recovery Club.
They've been inviting us to come play for a while now and we finally made
it out on Sat Jul 23rd. Man! We were really glad we did!
They have a great set up, a stage, lights, good sound system,
and the folks that show up are most chilled and it's a very casual
and relaxing evening of music. Admission $3
It runs every other Saturday, from 8:30 until 1 a.m.

Wow, I (Lucie) experienced a so-far once in a life time thing recently:
Another band performed one of the songs I wrote - DUX did "I Lose Myself" .... and there I was in the audience in the dark, feeling like christmas, just suspended while listening.

I have known for a few weeks that they had added it to their repertoire, because they had approached me with the idea in the first place, but I hadn't heard them do it yet.

I just loved their version/rendition of it, their harmonies just slayed it and made it so gorgeous that for the first time,
I really heard it as a song, a viable song like any song out there. Prior to that it was just something I'd written. It was way cool.

THANKS GUYS :)

The top row of photos were taken by Brian Jensen and the second row of shots were taken by John Laird. Thank you both! Others also took photos and they will be posted as well in a day or so. Huge thanks to David Bridges who played bass for us that night and to Gido who sat in with us on drums for the first time and did an absolutely stellar job! :)

Movie News!

Rapid Fire logo

We were pretty thrilled to have 3 of our songs in the film 'Rapid Fire'!!

Based on the real events of one of the most violent bank
robberies in California, the made-for-tv movie appeared
on the USA Network on Tuesday, May 24th (twice) and once on Wednesday, May 25th

They used Steve's 'A Girl Would Have To Be a Fool' in the opening diner scene, his 'Feel the Fires Rage' in a gun shop scene, and Lucie's 'No Winner Takes All' in a poker game scene! Yeeeeeeeeeeha!!

'The Loss' c Lucie Walker 2005
We just got a letter in the mail from the Canadian Country Music Association's Country Music Week folks, starting with "We regret to inform you..."

We didn't get a showcase in Calgary like we'd been hoping.
There's always next year.
Sigh.

Seems congratulations are in order!

Greg Kaczor and Terri Clarkofficially announced that they are getting married in the fall! We met Greg back in 2000 at Country Music Week in Edmonton when we opened for Terri Clark. He is Terri's tour manager and guitarist, and a hell of a nice guy! Congratulations to you both!
