'I'D GIVE YOU THE MOON & STARS'

'I'd Give You The Moon & Stars' stage 1 = 'I'd Give You The Moon & Stars' c Lucie Walker 2005

'I'd Give You The Moon & Stars' is a 14"x18" acrylic on canvas. When I was a little kid, if I asked my mother for something she couldn't afford, she'd say, "Sweetheart, I'd give you the moon and stars if I could." I have grown up to say the same to my sons. Well one rainy day not too long ago, I was walking to the coffee shop to get my morning cuppa, and this image of a mother handing her kids the moon & stars popped into my head and I knew I had to paint it.

So it started with the woman :)

Now she has long hair, and I re-did the stars. Haha there really isn't much to say about this one!

My new kitten, Ruby, thought she'd help out by catching a falling star ;)

Here, I thought I would paint a little girl but she didn't quite turn out that way. She looked more like a very short adult, so I scrapped her. haha

Then the obvious occured to me. I would paint my sons. They appear in the painting 'Better Days Ahead' and I think they kind of like starring in my paintings. Anyway, as soon as they came out of my brush, it seemed the obvious way to go. I covered the ground in grass, but . . .

. . . it didn't last long . . . I smoothed the grass out and turned it into ground, and detailed the woman (I guess that's me, if those are my kids ;)

I still have to work on the legs and detail the kids' faces, but for now, I'm done this one. I will likely pick it up again very soon. Click on it :)
