1.
Although it looks like I'm getting
ready to paint a beach scene, I had nothing in particular in mind here, just
getting the juices flowing with blue, yellow, and white strokes. Trying my hand
at some clouds |
2.
More of the same, with fluffier
clouds. I have a hard time being personally inspired much by landscapes so it
sits there like this into evening and overnight.
|
3.
The next day, I see it differently and play with the idea of
the scenery being outside a window, so I build a room around the one cloud.
After a little while, I go upstairs and ask my teen sons to help out a little
by emptying the dishwasher. I am met with a big eye roll and some balking. But
they do it.

4.
Shaking my head and wondering, Gee,
what if I'd REALLY wanted something...? I sit back down at my canvas and fueled
by my frustration, what comes out of my brush but a woman packing! Take note,
you nasty children!! Hahahaha!
|
5.
Indeed, I paint a road outta here
and the cloud goes dark. Heh Heh. I'm starting to see where this painting is
going and I'm digging it. Thanks Boys! :)

6.
I define things a little more and decide to paint a yellow
wall.
|
7.
The blue skies are back, but the
yellow's not working for me so I go back to green and start the shading for the
corner, and add a chair. Still playing with the curtains.
|
8.
Add shading to the pillows and work on the chair, blended the
corner a bit, and added a bedside table and lamp.
|
9.
Here I decided to add extra sky and make the curtains go all
the way up to the edge of the painting. Then, I added a suitcase by the chair
and concentrate on lighting, shading, and shaping, the chair, and darken up the
walls. Starting to flesh out the woman now, reposition her arms, build up her
bent leg, generally round her out more.
|
10.
Whoa, different curtains. But they don't last long because it
gives a hotel room feel that I'm not going for. Lightened up the suitcase and
the walls, and changed the scenery outside the window.
|
11.
More curtain play
|
12.
Fill the suitcase, add a pillow to the chair, add a patch of
light on the wall, above the bed, really define that corner with some shading
and darker lines, tweak the lamp, change her hair, work on shading the clothes
on the bed and best of all. . . changed the angle of the pillows on the bed so
that the perspective makes more sense now. Funny how many layers there are to
SEEING. I'm amazed all the time. |
 |
13.
Finally at peace with the curtains, I define the scenery and
add some more clothes for her to pack, add some light on the bed pillow and on
her dress. There she is, GONE. Click on her :) |
