| This notion of doing anything for love, of fixing and tweaking
it so that it can live on, has been a sweet theme in my 12 year relationship.
In this painting, 'The Elixir', the person in the row boat is crossing choppy waters with a little bouquet of flowers on the bow, heading solo towards a 'heart' horizon. . . . . 'Just hang on, it'll be ok'. . . I personally find this painting pretty in every stage and looking back, I could have stopped in any of them . . . although I do love the gold light in the final result. |

| 1. I've had this image floating around in my head forever, and the time finally came to express it. |
2. I was getting really happy with this ~lalala~ until the boyfriend walked in and mentioned something about rowing towards boobs. |

| 3. When I stepped back, I had to laugh, 'cause he was right! Needless to say, I darkened the outline a tad! |
4. Here I took the calm waters and roughed 'em up a bit, particularly where the water meets the heart. (Gee, wonder what inspired that, haha) |

| 5. Added some aqua in there and worked on the sky, defined the figure in the boat a bit more, brightened the flowers with oil paint. This is an acrylic painting until it comes to the flowers at this point. |
6. Now I've softened that black at the lower left edge, blended in some waves, and added some mist off the heart. |

| 7. In the final version, I've added gold and white to light up the heart, and I've detailed the figure, the flowers, and the boat, in oil to add extra vibrancy. Click on it :) |
