I saw a little Mexican cement
garden statue that had this curled shape, and I loved it. I went home and
painted what turned out to be a western (and female) version of it.

Just toolin' around in paint,
playing with the background, adding a bit of light and shading to her
outfit.

That was all too much on the eyes
so I toned 'er down. It created a serene mood.

Here the lighting is different, not
the paint. I was kind of digging this but it was feeling too familiar, like
cliche, like Juan Valdez or something, haha.

Just wasn't going anywhere with the
ground and sky and I boldly painted over the ground in black and then added
tall grass (wheat). Changed her face so that she is looking up at the
"camera" ;) Highlighted the hat, arm, hair, etc and took down the
curve on her back.

Added clouds which my son said were
AWESOME heh heh, added a piece of wheat in her hand, and generally tweaked
everything until I was happy with it. Click on her :)
