1.
I hardly ever draw anything before
I paint, but I had taken this little canvas board along for a car ride, and
while The Boyfriend was in the store, I stayed out in the car and penciled in
the first thought I had. |
2.
After
returning home, I set about painting it, first black, as in the first panel,
then toning it down and adding colorful hills.
|
3.
Here you can start to see what I'm going for, as I define the
woman and her kids.
|

4.
I paint rays around the sun, and
continue to play with the colors and shape of the hills.
|

5.
I start to try to light the hills
on the sunny side, and create shadows in the hills and sky on the darker side.
I light the trees.
|

6.
Still playing with the hills, and getting paint all over my
hands, since I'm using oil and well, the edges of my painting are wet. So for a
while it's an exercise in smoothing paint over thumb prints ;)
|

7.
I brighten the sun, am finally happy with the hills,
leave them in a cloud and walla! click on it :) |
