Welcome
to the
Rockin' Country Blues
News
October 2002

The Rotary Club Fund Raiser Pictures are in!

Sometimes it really comes in handy that besides being a performing songwriter, an artist (see above) and an
all-around nice guy, Steve is also a tilesetter . . .

He recently traded a tile job for some studio time and so we are in the studio this month, recording demos of our newest songs in order to send them off to be "shopped" to other Artists. We will be doing simple guitar/voice versions of:

I Lose Myself You Were the One
Memories Don't Take the Place of Love For You to Break My Heart

Nothin' But the Blues

Reckless Love
One More Chance Outbound Train
I Believe in Love What Do You Want

Hey, here's an idea: You could come to our gigs and hear all these new tunes,
along with all your old favorites!! {short description of image}

We recently entered 3 of our songs, Tumblin' Down, Take it As it Comes, & Cruel Cruel World in the BC Country Music Association's Talent on Tape competition, in the Group or Duo Category. . . Wish us luck!///...update...we didn't win... :-( Ah well....

Recent Gigs

Well the FOG didn't help! We got lost on our way to the gig at the Gourmet Gallery (Sat Oct 19) Man, we were stressed! We left Vancouver in plenty of time, but once we got to Abbotsford, we somehow got turned around, drove up a mountain in the fog, no street lights, winding road, and me going, "Where the hell are you going??" It was not our finest hour.

We arrived at the gig just a half hour before our start time, and went straight to setting up our sound gear. We started right on time at 8:30, frazzled and embarrassed! Not a good way to feel before stepping in front of a group of people, but forgot all about it once we started playing.

There was a good turn-out and the place is pretty cool. The Gourmet Gallery is an antique/gift shop/licenced restaurant/coffeehouse/ice cream parlor with Saturday night entertainment.
Our friends showed up to support us (thanks again!) and we had the pleasure of meeting Jean Konda-Witte from the Abbotsford Times. She was there snap a few photos and cover the show for the paper. She stayed for our entire last set, which was great! What a nice woman! We all got along like a house on fire!

We would like to thank Peter Duncan for booking this gig for us, and for arranging for The Abbotsford Times to cover our show!

.
The last time we played the Trout Lake Farmer's Market, we were approached by a woman named Barbara Jackson, who booked us for an evening of music at the
Little Mountain Neighbourhood House. . .

We played a barn dance on Saturday, October 5th! It was GREAT! It was a Rotary Club Fundraiser with hay bale "bleachers" for seating in the huge and gorgeous barn at Paul & Jacqueline Grant's farm in White Rock, B.C. (This is where we had our CD release party a couple years back.)
The barn was rockin' ~ lots of dancin' fools and lots of great music: Mike Horne of "Dux" played and folks just ate him up! Also Gary Comeau came out to do a set and whipped everyone into a frenzy. And joining us was Scott Smith on dobro & lap steel, which made the songs feel all dressed up!

I love this one taken by our good friend, John Laird.
