GIGS |
| We've just returned
from a week away. We performed in Enderby, B.C. and Calgary, Alberta, and had a
visit with family and friends. Now we're all refreshed and rarin' to go! This
trip has been just the tonic we needed. It's soo nice to get out of
"Dodge" and experience a renewed feeling, musically. Feel inspired
and motivated right now!! We've made a solid commitment/decision to include little tours here and there all the time, everywhere. We love this lifestyle so much and want to have more of it. * * * Hey, I had a birthday on October 5th, turned 40 a couple days after our trip. This is the year I write my book. I promised myself this when I was 6 or 7, and I'm a woman of my word. The way my life is going, the book would be an erotic comedy. Look for it in the discount bin at Zeller's. * * * 40's very good so far, but I'll let you know if it dips. Feeling better than ever, looking forward to more than ever. Life is goooooood :-) Steve's birthday was on October 13th. We are 8 years and 8 days apart. * * * Hope to see you out there somewhere during October 24-26, as we have a busy gigging weekend, 4 gigs in 2 days. That's what we like, and we are officially putting it "out there" that we want more gigs!! We wanna play!!

We've been
having so much fun with our 'Random Acts of Magnetism' between Vancouver and
Calgary. Before we left for our trip, we made a couple hundred magnets
(seen at left) and they can be found in all sorts of
unexpected places. Fast food drive-through pick-up windows, parking meters, downtown garbage cans, posts, the door frame of the 7-11, silver restaurant napkin dispensers, you name it. (We're easily amused heh heh) If you've never heard of us (which we can't imagine |

| While in Calgary, we used our
time wisely and went out every night! Ha! What fun! On Tuesday there was an open mic back at the Ironwood, hosted by Brian McAreavey, and this gave us the opportunity to have a little visit with Lynne Thorimbert, one of the owners. We met Lynne during our cross Canada tour in 2000 when we played the venue she used to be involved with, The Karma. What a nice woman!! Wednesday night found us at two different open mics... we were up first at Jack Daw's Pub, where we hope to book into in the spring. This was a lively and full room, and I'm sure the party went on into the wees, but we had to dash off to the Karma Local Arts House where there was another jam. But not before we made a new friend, Greg, who was a good enough sport to continue on with us from Jack Daw's to the Karma. Weeeeeeeee! Another nice person! We were graciously allowed on to perform even though sign-up was long over. (Thanks to Host Jeff Anderson.) While at the Karma, Steve got chatting to Steve "the other Steve" Slade, a musician traveling and touring from the Yukon. Great guy! We had such a great time, we *love* Calgary |

| Say "Cheese" ... or is that "Damn..."? |
| We were told of this beautiful waterfall to go
check out in Enderby, so we took a little hike to go see. On the way, in the
woods, we took nice scenic shots with our ever-ready camera. We get to the
falls and they're gorgeous. Usually I would just admire them from the river bank, but noooo I was feeling all brave and sexy and wanted that million dollar shot in the basin of the falls. So I climb the vertical face of this biiiiggg rock in order to reach it and Steve's like, "What are you doing??" I said, "No wait, this will be grea..." and just before the 't' came out, my bag got caught in the rock ledge and tipped and the CAMERA fell out of it and plooop into the river. :-( (Place funeral music here) So I'm stuck in the inbetween shore and the water basin on this rock, hanging on and looking down behind me and going, "What was that??" And Steve says, "The camera..." and the next thing I know, he's stripping off his shoes, socks, and jeans, etc, and there he is completely naked except for his teeshirt, wading into the creek after it. What a guy. I give my head a shake and scale my way back to shore where I watch him from behind, bend over and pick up this dripping camera. Oh my. I was pretty convinced the camera was toast and the film in it, ruined, but miraculously it's fine and the film turned out! I just wish I had a picture of him naked, retrieving it from the river. My hero. |
