Lanai Apartments 2nd Annual Summer Picnic Saturday, July 24, 2004

We had a delightful time at the 2nd Annual Summer Picnic for the Lanai Apartments in Chilliwack on Saturday, July 24th! The community spirit was evident as soon as we pulled up. Verna, the Building Manager, greeted us with a big smile and a warm welcome, and we felt comfortable right off.			click photo With Verna, Lanai Apartments' Building Manager, whose vision it was to put this picnic together! This is the first time we've ever shared the stage with a ventriloquist! Bill, with his "dummy" Ritchie and lovely assistant Theresa, went on ahead of us and warmed up the crowd.

Really, he had such a fun way about him and it was contageous! He had the crowd singing along to old favourites, and laughing at all his antics. His show was so energetic and engaging, folks were having a great time!

Then it was our turn, and we performed a rousing set while the chefs were busy at the BBQs behind us, cookin' up a storm! We took a break and ate a wonderful meal and mingled and met some really nice folks. Took a few pictures, had a bunch of laughs, and went back up on stage and did another set, this time joined by Peter Classen, who really enhanced our sound with his drumming.

So as you can see, we all had a very good time on this hot Chilliwack summer day! We thank you for including us in this community of people; we're so glad we could be a part of it. It was just marvelous! (Oh and to top it all off, they hired us for their Christmas party in the Hall on December 11th! Yay!) Richard also took photographs so check back here for those in the next little while :-)
