| Born in Montreal with a streak of shyness running through her,
Lucie Walker always thought it best she stay off the stage. Right from the
start she possessed a great ear and would sing and make up songs but would clam
up and blush the moment she knew she was being listened to. At age 8, a move to Ontario turned her bilingual in no time, and a couple years later she was blending in with the award-winning St. Peter's choir. She loved performing - in a crowd - but felt terribly shy in the spotlight. It surprised no one, then, when her powerful and versatile voice led her to a behind the scenes career singing dozens of local radio and TV jingles in Ontario and B.C. It surprised everyone, though, when she came home the 1st prize winner of a singing contest she quietly entered! Her songs have received international indie radio airplay, while another 2, Outbound Train and No Winner Takes All, have found their way into the movies! She's happy these days singing, writing songs, painting, and poking around on banjo, guitar, mandolin and fiddle. Her personal glee on stage is unleashed on every audience, who are taken by the once-shy girl with the big voice and even bigger smile. |
