Recent Gigs:

WE ACTUALLY BROUGHT THE CAMERA!!

Check out our Mayne Island Pub gig!

July 5th:The Marine Club with Sean O'Keefe was a lot of fun!

Man, that room reeks of atmosphere!! Grandpa's rec room, only with a bigger bar!

SEAN O'KEEFE and the HARDENED CRIMINALS, 'Machine Gun' KELLY MELVIN and ALLAN 'Baby Face' HALEY certainly didn't disappoint! They gained new fans with their brilliant sound. I was sitting there listening and shaking my head at why these guys are not filling arenas. Ah, well . . . everything in good time . . .

THANK YOU to all the folks who came out to support us at this show! It was great to see all the dancin' and carryin' on!

And Russell, I will not soon forget your velvet tongue. ;-)

July 3rd: We had a one hour showcase for the BC Songwriter's Association at McBurney's in Langley, B.C. The place was packed, which is always a great thing!! We saw some old friends and were delighted to meet new ones! Thanks so much to LaRaine Vanderzalm for booking us in there and to Bruce Kilby for his awesome support! We enjoyed meeting fellow songwriter Dan Beer ;-) Hell of a nice guy . . . and guess what, we even scored another gig while we were there: We're going to be doing a set at Langley's outdoor summer festival, Arts Alive, on August 17th! Come one, come all!

DAMOE'S (June 22 & June 29) was a riot! We met so many great new people that evening!
Thank you to our friends who came out and supported us, we can't tell you what that does for us!

Oh, and I've gotta say: the food at DAMOE'S is just incredibly good!

Daniel's Bash at The Cottage (June 21) was a lot of fun! We had a good turnout, and the highlight of the evening came when everyone gathered around and watched incredulously as "our" Steve drank a beer whilst standing on his head.

Imagine my pride. rolling eyes

Another wonderful gig was at Green Acres Farm in White Rock. (June 9)This was a private surprise party for a woman who recently got her Masters. She thought she was going horseback riding at her friends' farm, but when she opened the barn doors, about 50 of us yelled, "Surprise!"

We were there to play music, of course, and we shared the stage in the huge barn with Martin Ridgely and Louise Porter Moran. We just switched off all night, each act doing mini sets till the cows came home. Sold a few CDs, raffled off a couple t-shirts, did a little horseback riding; you know, generally had a terrible time ;-)

Thanks so much to Paul and Jacqueline for having us there all day and evening, and to Jeff for hiring us!

.
We had an absolute blastat the Roberts Creek Legion on June 1st. These people know how to party! We had Ken Gustafson sitting in on peddle steel for the evening, and it fattened up our sound real good!

Steve used to live on the Sunshine Coast, and we used to go there almost every weekend so we had a great time catching up with old friends. It was downright debaucherous and we can't wait to do it again!

Thanks very much to Al & Julie for turning us on to playing the Legion, and to Paul Appelt for taking a chance and booking us!

LIVE RADIO PERFORMANCE

We had a great time performing LIVE on the radio on June 28th! Steve and I, along with our bass player, David Bridges, were invited to be on Mark Bignell's radio show (Radio Bandcouver 102.7 FM).

We performed 6 songs altogether and Mark chatted us up between songs, and he also played several cuts from our CD, Straight Up. In all, it was a wonderful experience for us!

Mark Bignell sure works hard at supporting and promoting Vancouver's indie scene, and we want to thank him heartily for his many efforts, and for being a hell of a good guy!

Check out Radio Bandcouver's site to find out about his upcoming guests and who's playing where.
Thank you, Mark!

.

Nomination!

On May 9th, we received a letter from Nashville, informing us that we have been nominated for a
Golden Microphone Award for Airplay International's King Eagle Music Awards. We were nominated by Cody Austin, a fella we sent our CD and press kit to back in July /01.

This came as a complete surprise, since we hadn't heard a word back from Mr. Austin.
But I guess he must've liked it ;-)

Thank you so much to Reid Wright of the British Columbia Country Music Association for giving us a feature in the June issue of the Boot & Spur Newsletter!
