"Tales From The Trip"
We'd been "warned" that this was the oldest pub in Ottawa and not to rely too heavily on the Chateau part.
Well! We had a blast! What a great gig this was!
| Ottawa's oldest pub | |
We showed up early in the day and were greeted by Jill Scott, the friendly manager, who made us feel welcomed right away. That evening when we were just about to start playing, a group of people came in and said, "You come highly recommended!" Turns out, Keltie, our Vancouver friend, had e-mailed her Ottawa friends and asked them to come out to the gig! (Thank you, thank you, thank you!) What great folks! And then this couple comes in and the woman is smiling this great big smile at me, which is a nice thing to have happen, but peculiar, too, you know? She comes over to me and says, "Lucie? I'm your cousin, Lise. I'm Rita's daughter." Well I'll BE! (Rita is family on my Dad's side, and we had just hit it off at the family reunion in Moncton the week before! So she had called her daughter in Ottawa to tell her where we'd be playing!) It made for such a lovely night! New friends and new family! |
The "Laff", as the locals call it, had one of their best nights since their renovations in June, and we hope it continues for them, as this is one great place! There are open doors overlooking the very vibrant market area, and the neighbourhood was hopping with locals and tourists all night, so people would hear us and stop in...a neverending audience! The "Laff Staff" was great: we want to thank Simon for his humour, smiling face, and cheerful assistance during our gig! We'd come back anytime!
With Lise Melanson, Lucie's long-lost cousin!
I'm so glad you found me, Lise!
