"Tales From The Trip"
|
Continued After the family
reunion (more hugs and cousins!) we decided to spend Monday tooling around Nova
Scotia. We had a great time exploring Halifax and Peggy's Cove.
By Tuesday, we re-discovered the phone numbers to the TV station and called
"just to see what would happen". We were told that there was a
slim chance we could get on that week's show (!) so we told them to
check out our website to see who we were, etc. We just started driving West and
checking our messages. Well they left one saying that if we could get to Ottawa
by "1:30 tomorrow", we could be on that day's show. It was now
Tuesday noon, in Halifax! Both firm believers that life unfolds as it should,
we high-tailed it to Ottawa! |

We took turns driving all night and got to town with enough time to do laundry, drop some CDs off on consignment at Compact Music in the Gleeb (a neighbourhood of Ottawa), and make it to the TV studio with time to spare!

Our taping was a great experience! Because of cutbacks, the station has pared down to a skeleton staff, and while waiting for 3 guys to return from lunch, we had a great time taking pictures on the sets and acting the fools. Steve made me laugh so hard that it was threatening my singing voice, so luckily those boys came back when they did. You never saw two people straighten up so quickly!
The taping itself went smoothly, and we were quite surprised to find no actual cameramen! The cameras were all robotic!
We aired on the next day's noon news hour, on August 24th. The whole experience was one smooth example of synchronicity! Not to mention how far we'll go to be on TV!

Thanks to Deb Weyman for helping us out! Another example of the great folks we've met on this trip!
