We arrived in Fredericton mid-afternoon on Friday, Aug.18, and met with Gary Boole, Entertainment Editor for the North Side News. (It was Gary who helped us get the gig at the Bugaboo Creek Pub back when we were booking this tour. Thanks, Gary!) He interviewed us for the paper, then we sat for a while and compared coasts over a cold one! Later on, he took a couple of shots at the Fredericton waterfront with his nifty digital camera...gotta get us one of those!
Later on at the Bugaboo Pub a woman approached us and asked if we were going to be in Ottawa on this tour. We told her that in fact, that's where we were playing next! Turns out she knew someone who worked at CTV in Ottawa. So she gave us some names and numbers of people to contact at the station.We didn't expect the timing to work out, since after this gig, we still had to attend a 2-day family reunion in Moncton, (this time on my Dad's side) so we weren't leaving New Brunswick until Tuesday to make it to our Thursday night gig in Ottawa.
We also figured we'd need to give a TV station more than a couple days to a) hear about us b) decide on us, and c) book us. These things take weeks or more sometimes, but her enthusiasm made it seem possible, so we thanked her and kept the numbers. We went on our way thinking, "What a nice woman!" To Be Continued...
